When school ends, kids are looking for something exciting to do. Parents want their kids making friends, having fun, staying active, and being part of something positive instead of just spending the whole summer sitting at home on screens.

Summer Explosion is an annual, FREE mini-kids camp for ages 3 through 5th grade that is packed full of crazy games, awesome music, relevent teaching and action-packed team competition. Simply put, it's: FUN, FRIENDS & GOD!!

Summer Explosion, now in its 5th year in Sun Prairie, is imagined and created by Burst, the Children's Ministry of Focus Church. An amazing volunteer team of almost 50 people will work tirelessly to make Summer Explosion the best it can be for the kids. This event is offered for FREE and we are able to do that with the generous support of Focus Church, the NXTGEN Center, business partners, and many private sponsors.
2026 Summer Explosion Theme
Each year we theme Summer Explosion with a fun, imaginative theme, straight out of our kid's culture. This year's theme will be a fun adaptation of the upcoming movie "Toy Story 5." We're going to infinity and beyond to find out what it means to say, "You've got a friend in me." Join us as we discover how we can be a friend like Joseph from the Bible, and how Jesus worked in him and through him.
Summer Explosion - June 16-18, 2026
This year... Summer Explosion is back with awesome opportunities for kids to experience FUN, FRIENDS, and GOD. Get the scoop here.
Each day, parents will bring their kids into Focus Church to check them in and drop them off in their team room. Then, kids will get to play with games and toys, before doing some awesome team competition, dancing to new, engaging music, eating a themed snack, and hearing an age-appropriate lesson all about Joe's Story (Joseph from the Bible).

Who?
Summer Explosion is for kids 3 years of age through 5th grade. There will be two Summer Explosion events happening simultaneously on our campus. There will be one for Preschoolers (ages 3 through 5) and one for Elementary (grades K-5). Each will feature age-appropriate teaching and fun. We will combine all our age groups at the end of each evening for our finale.
When?
This year, Summer Explosion will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026 through Thursday, June 18, 2026. Each evening's event will be from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
After each evening, snocones are going to be available right outside the main exit for the whole family.
Where?
Summer Explosion will be held on the campus of Focus Church, located at 411 N Thompson Road Sun Prairie WI 53590.
Focus Church is conveniently located next to both Royal Oaks Elementary School and Prairie View Middle School.
How Much?
Did we mention FREE? Everything about Summer Explosion is FREE! Your child will receive a FREE Summer Explosion Shirt when they show up on the first day. This event is offered for free to the kids of Sun Prairie, thanks in part to generous donations from our sponsors.
Just make sure to have them wear the shirt they get all 3 nights of Summer Explosion, but don't forget to wash it!
Can I Trust You?
We take the safety and security of your child seriously while they are in our care. We use a computerized check-in system to make sure kids leave with the person that dropped them off. All volunteers have been background checked and can be identified by their picture IDs. There are registered nurses on hand in case of the occasional bump and bruise. Finally, all activities are closely monitored by the watchful eyes of our security team.

We want the fun of Summer Explosion to last a little longer, so we are taking over the weekend services at Focus Church. So... parents get to experience the fun services with their kids the following weekend.

Meet our 2026 Summer Explosion Leaders
Randon Foldhazi
Staff Pastor
Pastor Randon will be speaking at our Elementary Summer Explosion (grades 1 - 5). He's a crazy guy when he gets on stage, but also loves all forms of technology. He loves to solve Rubik's Cubes, watch movies with his wife, and play video games with the kids at the church. Randon has been a Staff Pastor, working with elementary kids, at Focus Church for 5 years.
Ryan and ShaLe Foldhazi
Lead Pastors
Pastors Ryan & ShaLe are the creators of Summer Explosion, going back almost 30 years ago. After being pioneers of children's ministry across the nation for 2 decades, and ministering to thousands of kids, they stepped into the role of lead pastors at Focus Church 9 years ago. They have 5 adult children and 5 more little ones at home.
Nicole Zimbrich
Staff Pastor
Pastor Nicki will be speaking at our Preschool Summer Explosion (ages 3 - Kindergarten). She's a lot of fun, is great with preschoolers and is really good at keeping things on track. She loves to shop, drink coffee, explore, and be a mom. Nicki has been a Staff Pastor, working with early childhood, at Focus Church for 4 years and has 2 kids of her own.

We feel that Summer Explosion is so different from any other summer kids event that you must experience it in order to understand it. Take some time to see what Summer Explosion has been like for the past few years to get an idea of what this year's event may be like.
